I am delighted to announce that I am teaming with the oncology and internal medicine specialty group here in Jacksonville, FL! I have worked with Southeast Veterinary Oncology and Medicine as a traditional vet for the last 7 years and have the utmost respect for them and what they do. They are such compassionate and brilliant veterinarians with a whole team of enthusiastic caring people on staff. Check out their webpage at www.petcancercare.com.
The following is the email announcement that they just sent out!
INTRODUCING OUR NEW HOLISTIC THERAPIES
Our team at SEVO-Med cares for your pet as if he/she was our own. We know you want the best possible care available, and we are dedicated to exceeding the 'standard' by looking at every possibility to improve quality and quantity of life.
Dr. Jenna Castner Hauck will be a new part time member of our team. She extends this commitment to you and your pet with the same compassion and dedication. She is a licensed veterinarian that specializes in Veterinary Acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy.
She is available on Wednesdays to see both our oncology and internal medicine patients as well as anyone else that is interested in this service for their pets.
Her Story:
Dr. Jenna Castner Hauck graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 and elected to continue her training by completing an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery in Denver, CO. Trained for all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine, including emergency, general surgery, internal medicine, and preventative care, she joined a local Jacksonville practice in 2004.
In 2006, her inquisitive nature and passion for her work led to a new direction for Dr. Hauck. She was looking for additional ways to help some of her especially challenged patients with chronic ongoing issues. She wanted to help them heal and increase their quality of life. In practice, the doctor must examine all options, and one such option was something she had seen work in very interesting ways - acupuncture. After some initial research and discussion with experts, she decided to study this area of veterinary medicine.
She started her acupuncture training at the world renowned Chi Institute that same year. Located in Florida, the Chi Institute is one of only a few institutions in the country that trains veterinarians from all over the world in this specialty. Putting her training to work, she continued to see the tremendous help it was to her patients. She discovered that acupuncture and herbal therapy have an ability to treat diseases that conventional medicine can oftentimes only manage but not overcome. These treatments have provided many patients a better quality of life - they are happier, eating better, and live with far less pain.
Acupuncture is a safe treatment that stimulates the body's own natural healing abilities to restore health and balance. Acupuncture and herbal therapies have a long standing history of successful treatment of many types of problems. Pain, arthritis, cancer, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, behavioral issues, and organ failure are some examples. Many more can be treated.
We encourage you to schedule an appointment if you are interested in a consultation or treatment. These treatments will be an option for those of you not interested in traditional cancer/medicine therapies for your pet OR they will be used in conjunction with the traditional cancer/medicine therapies your oncologist or internist is providing.
